STUPID SIGN AWARD for week of December 6, 2006

London, England- What should have been a routine 20 minute trip to transfer a patient between hospitals turned out to be a four hour, two hundred mile journey in the wrong direction.

The drive normally would be an 8 mile jaunt North East of London to Brentwood, but the ambulance personnel used a Satellite Navigation System to direct them from hospital “A” to their destination hospital “B.” Obviously the system was malfunctioning but they kept driving, trusting the device.  They continued to drive.  They kept  driving...driving....driving 4 hours later, they realized they had driven 200 miles North West to the suburbs of Manchester!  Then they decided “HEY, we’re going the wrong way!”

So, they turned around and drove another 200 miles back making the entire trip an 8 hour excursion.  Fortunately, the male patient was okay, and suffered no complications.

Since then, they, there trip an 8 hour excursion.200 miles functioning) y... bs of manchester mal driving...driving....hey we' satellite system has been reconfigured.  But, the relatively new ambulance drivers were advised to study geography and learn to think for themselves.

To the ambulance drivers in London--

Heeeeere's your sign!
